Mental Health First Aid

Last week, Business in the Community and Mercer Marsh Benefits released their ‘Mental Health at Work 2019 Report – Time to take ownership’. The report takes data from a survey of more than 4000 employees from YouGov data.

The report shows that whilst huge improvements have been made to helping people with Mental Health problems in the workplace and awareness has risen a profound cultural shift is required.

A step in the right direction is that for the first time ever Mental Health First Aid has been available to all delegates at the three main political parties’ annual conferences over the last few weeks.

Whilst Mental Health First Aid in the workplace is not yet mandatory it is thought that a change in the law making it mandatory could happen soon with the recent debate in parliament and the commitment of all three main parties.
