Workplace Wellbeing Assessments
Proactive health monitoring and wellbeing support that reduces absence, identifies risks early and supports a healthier workforce.
Why workplace wellbeing assessments matter
Around one in three UK workers report feeling unhappy at work, with 26% saying a lack of support contributes to their stress. At the same time, cardiovascular disease remains the UK’s leading cause of death, responsible for 1 in 4 deaths. The encouraging news is that up to 80% of these risks can be reduced through simple, positive lifestyle changes.
Our wellbeing assessments go beyond basic health checks. We combine professional clinical testing with supportive, meaningful conversations, including the NHS 5 Steps to Wellbeing. This helps employees look after their health while continuing to work safely and productively.
Early detection doesn’t just save money, it protects the people who make your business possible.

Wellbeing assessment tiers
Choose from three tiers, each building on the last with additional tests and longer discussion time.
Whether you need quick checks for large teams or more in-depth assessments for senior staff, we’ll help you choose the right option.
Tier 1 – Essential health check (know your numbers)
15-minute appointments
Includes:
- Blood pressure check
- General health and wellbeing discussion
- NHS 5 Steps to Wellbeing booklet
- GP referral letter if needed
Best for: Large teams, manufacturing environments, quick annual checks, budget-conscious programmes.
How it works
Our technician does a blood pressure check using calibrated equipment. If the reading is elevated, we repeat it after 5 minutes. If the second reading remains high, we provide a letter for the employee to take to their GP. We discuss general health and wellbeing, providing practical resources for ongoing support.
Tier 2 – Comprehensive wellbeing assessment (basic MOT)
30-minute appointments
Includes everything in Tier 1, plus:
- Urine glucose test
- Cholesterol finger-prick test
- Detailed NHS 5 Steps to Wellbeing discussion
- Personalised wellbeing action planning
- Wellbeing booklet with space for notes
Best for: Office workers, sedentary roles, teams with known risk factors, comprehensive annual assessments.
How it works
Following the blood pressure check, we perform a urine dipstick test and cholesterol finger-prick test. Any concerning results trigger GP referral letters.
The remaining time focuses on the 5 Steps to Wellbeing, using the booklet to discuss each step and create personalised actions.
Employees leave with specific, practical steps they can take and signposting to helpful resources.
Tier 3 – In-depth health and wellbeing
40-minute appointments
Includes everything in Tier 2, plus:
- Optional BMI calculation (height/weight)
- Extended wellbeing discussion
- Lifestyle and stress conversation
- Comprehensive action planning and signposting
Best for: Management teams, high-stress roles, comprehensive wellness programmes.
How it works
After completing the same clinical tests as Tier 2, we offer optional BMI calculation and extended discussion time.
This allows in-depth exploration of the 5 Steps to Wellbeing plus additional topics the employee wants to address—work stress, personal health concerns, lifestyle factors.
We create detailed action plans and provide
comprehensive signposting to support services.

Evidence-based wellbeing conversations
Our Tier 2 and Tier 3 assessments are structured around the NHS 5 Steps to Wellbeing – a proven framework supporting both mental and physical health.
This ensures each conversation considers the full picture, not just physical measurements.
The NHS 5 steps to wellbeing (full detail)
1. Connect with People: Building strong relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and community.
We discuss quality of social connections, workplace relationships, and practical ways to strengthen them.
2. Be Physically Active. Even small increases in activity make a difference.
We explore current activity levels, barriers to exercise, realistic goals, and enjoyable activities that can be maintained.
3. Learn New Skills Continuing development boosts confidence and purpose.
We discuss learning interests, workplace development opportunities, and resources for skill-building.
4. Give to Others: Acts of kindness and helping others create positive feelings.
We explore volunteering possibilities, workplace peer support, and meaningful contribution opportunities.
5. Pay Attention to the Present Moment (Mindfulness) Being aware of thoughts, feelings, and surroundings improves mental well-being.
We discuss stress levels, mindfulness techniques, work-life balance, and practical resources. This framework ensures every wellbeing conversation addresses the full picture of employee health – not just physical measurements.
Why We Focus on Cardiovascular Health
Cardiovascular disease remains the UK’s leading cause of death, and many risk factors can be improved with practical lifestyle changes.
Our assessments help identify early warning signs such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and glucose irregularities linked to diabetes, so employees can follow up with their GP where needed.
Our wellbeing assessments help identify early warning signs, including:

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the three tiers?
Each tier builds on the previous one with additional tests and more discussion time.
Tier 1 (15 mins) provides blood pressure checks and a basic wellbeing chat.
Tier 2 (30 mins) adds cholesterol and glucose testing plus a detailed 5-step discussion.
Tier 3 (40 mins) includes everything in Tier 2 plus optional BMI calculation and extended wellbeing discussion covering stress, lifestyle, and personal health concerns.
How often should we book wellbeing clinics?
We recommend annual assessments as a minimum for effective health monitoring.
Many clients choose bi-annual (twice yearly) assessments for comprehensive programmes, whilst some high-risk or high-stress environments benefit from quarterly assessments.
We’ll help you determine the right frequency for your workforce needs and budget.
What happens if someone has concerning results?
We provide clear, professional letters for the employee to take to their GP explaining the results and recommending follow-up.
For seriously elevated blood pressure, our technician contacts an OHC nurse before the employee leaves.
For very high readings, we advise the employee to call 111 immediately. This ensures safety whilst respecting that ongoing medical care is the responsibility of the individual’s own GP.
Are the assessments confidential?
Yes, completely confidential. All health information and results are shared only with the individual employee.
This confidentiality builds trust and encourages honest health discussions. No information is shared with employers.
Do employees need to prepare for assessments?
No fasting or special preparation is required for wellbeing assessments.
Employees simply attend at their scheduled time. We recommend they come relaxed and ready to discuss their health and wellbeing openly.
Can we mix different tiers in one clinic day?
Yes, absolutely. You can offer different tiers to different employee groups based on role, risk factors, or seniority.
For example, Tier 1 for general workforce, Tier 2 for office workers, and Tier 3 for management team.
We accommodate mixed clinics with appropriate scheduling.
How many people can be assessed in one day?
This depends on the tiers chosen:
- Tier 1 (15 mins): Up to 26 employees per clinic day
- Tier 2 (30 mins): Up to 13 employees per clinic day
- Tier 3 (40 mins): Up to 9 employees per clinic day
- Mixed tiers: We calculate capacity based on your specific combination.
What's included in the wellbeing booklet?
Every participant receives the OHC Lifestyle Screen Results booklet based on the NHS 5 Steps to Wellbeing, explaining each step with space for personal notes and actions created during their assessment.
